Donald Trump’s latest rally felt like a family reunion. The Republican presidential candidate held a rally with his voters at his golf course in Doral, Florida, with three of his children. And for the first time in his life, 18-year-old Barron Trump took to the stage, to the cheers of the audience and the admiring gaze of his father.

“He’s a very young man who’s now going to college. He got into every college he wanted to go to and he made his choice,” Trump said, without specifying where the young man would be in September. “He’s a very good guy. He’s my guy,” he continued. And as Barron got up to go on stage, the former president played the role of warm-up man.

“This is the first time, right?” he said to his son. And as a roar of applause rang out, Donald Trump continued: “You’re pretty popular. He may be more popular than Don and Eric, we need to talk about that.” Melania Trump’s little protégé, however, did not want to speak, contenting himself with smiling and raising his arms in the face of the crowd chanting his name.

Melania Trump à New York

Donald Trump’s two eldest children, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who were also present at the rally, each gave a speech very favorable to the Republican candidate. While, true to form, the former president on the campaign trail castigated the Democratic candidate and his poor performance during their debate, multiplied his attacks on Kamala Harris and made a strange proposition. Donald Trump challenged Joe Biden to an 18-hole golf match. “It will be one of the most watched sporting events in history, maybe bigger than the Ryder Cup or even the Masters,” the real estate mogul said.

Having been very much in the background since the start of this new campaign, Melania Trump was absent from this large family and political gathering. But according to “Page Six”, the former First Lady was in New York, where she organized a fundraiser for the Log Cabin Republicans, a conservative group supporting LGBT people. An intimate gathering of major donors in her Trump Tower penthouse that raised $1.4 billion. A discreet but effective way to announce her return to the forefront?
