The difference between the current version and the new text field is subtle, but interesting. The Gallery and Magic Composer buttons are now integrated into the text field, and fall more easily under your finger while typing. The button that accesses the emoji keyboard is always placed in the text field. The option to record an audio message is removed from the input box and will prevent many of us from making a mistake while writing a message by accidentally pressing this button.
We also notice that Magic Composer is now placed in first position, which is not insignificant as Google wants to push its artificial intelligence services into all its products. Auto-replies are better placed than emojis, and users who may have never noticed this button will be curious to take a look.
As always with Google, these new features are initially available in the beta version of Google Messages, before a global deployment in the coming weeks.
