What exceptional menu did King Charles III and Queen Camilla serve to their Qatari guests?

The tables had been set in the ballroom of Buckingham Palace. For the last time for several years.

According to the “BBC”, the state banquet organized this Tuesday evening, December 3, 2024, was indeed the last given in this very large piece dating from the mid-19th century before its next renovation. In the next two years, such gala meals should actually take place at Windsor Castle.

Lobster, pheasant, truffle…

This final dinner before this temporary change was served in honor visiting Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sheikha Jawaher State trip for two days in the United Kingdom. And King Charles III and Queen Camilla – who, although still ill, had been able to be present – had reserved an exceptional menu for the Emir of Qatar and his first wife and consort, as well as for the other British guests and Qataris.

The guests were in fact presented, as an appetizer, a Cornish lobster and quail egg tartlet. Hunting season obliges, the main course was pheasant wrapped in Savoy cabbage with a truffle sauce, accompanied by roasted celeriac puree, a potato gratin with Suffolk cheese and vegetables from winter. As for dessert, it consisted of an ice bomb with organic Samoan vanilla ice cream and Balmoral plum sorbet.

“Each guest had a service of five different glasses – and for those who wanted an alcoholic drink, the wine list included Chapel Down Grand Reserve 2018, Puligny-Montrachet Les Nosroyes, Domaine Genot-Boulanger 2019, Château Lynch-Bages, Pauillac 2000 and a Château La Tour Blanche,” said the “BBC”.
