The originality of this story lies in its narrative perspective, as it is told from the point of view of the painting itself, each vignette illustrating what the painting “ you can “. The journey of the work, from its creation in the forest near Berlin to its exhibition at the Ludwig Museum in Cologne, is revealed to us through the changes of owners, the different perspectives and the censorship it suffered.
This story, which depicts two naked girls in an impressionist style, only reveals the full picture of the painting at the end of the album, as a ” selfie “. The story, rich in documentation, explores various reactions and emotions emanating from art, while tracing the geopolitical upheavals of the 20th century and questioning censorship, a recurring theme in the author’s work and career.
Two naked girls succeed The sky in the head by Antonio Altarriba, Sergio Garcia Sanchez and Lola Moral, published by Denoël Graphic editions, winner of the 2024 Grand Prix. The choice of this title was made following a final selection of five works established by the members of the ACBD in November.
Luz is a comic strip author with a background in press cartoons. After several titles at Futuropolis (Catharsis2015, O you, human brothers2016, Alive 2017, Indelible2018, Hollywood liar 2019), he received the Inrocks Prize in 2022 for his virtuoso adaptation of Vernon Subutex by Virginie Despentes (Albin Michel 2020/2022). In TestosterrorLuz writes and draws a hilarious satirical comedy which deconstructs the man of yesterday to invent the man of tomorrow.
