Around sixty Marseille firefighters and around twenty vehicles are currently deployed on the site of the Purfer Derichebourg Environnement warehouse located on Boulevard Ampère in the 14th arrondissement of Marseille, near the Min (National Interest Market). They are trying to put out a large fire that occurred this Wednesday, December 4 around 9:30 a.m.
According to Marseille firefighters, the fire involved 100 cubic meters of scrap metal: car wrecks and empty gas bottles. 500 square meters have already gone up in smoke. No injuries were reported. The causes of the fire are not yet known.
The police are on site to try to determine the causes and circumstances of this fire. Traffic was stopped in the surrounding area and a security perimeter installed.
