The current political situation in France requires strong and concerted actions. The French Communist Party (PCF) takes a clear position against the Barnier government and calls on workers, students, young people and retirees to mobilize together to demand a change of political course. Faced with a policy that defends the interests of capital to the detriment of workers, it is necessary to build majority popular gatherings, capable of transforming the current balance of power.
A mobilization for change
For the PCF, it is essential that all left-wing forces, as well as the New Popular Front, work hand in hand to strengthen this mobilization. The party calls for convergences with unions, associations and all citizens concerned by the future of the country. The aim here is to resist the policies carried out by the right and the far right, in the service of capital, and to lay the foundations of a political and social alternative that meets the expectations of the French.
The responsibility of the president
The President of the Republic bears a heavy responsibility in this situation of political instability. The message from the polls is clear: the French overwhelmingly reject this policy, which is far removed from their concerns. The PCF therefore calls on the president to appoint a government capable of building majorities on the basis of the proposals put forward by the New Popular Front during the elections. Such a government should be able to stave off the economic crisis and respond to the social, ecological, political and international challenges facing France.
PCF emergency measures
In this context of crisis, the PCF is putting forward a series of concrete and urgent measures, aimed at meeting the expectations of the population:
- Repeal the pension reform : This reform, unpopular and unfair, must be canceled.
- Increase wages and pensions : To guarantee a dignified standard of living, while ensuring professional equality between women and men.
- Launch a pre-recruitment plan in public services : Health, education, transport, security and justice are vital sectors that must be strengthened.
- An emergency plan for employment and industrial development : Promote job creation by strengthening French industry and agriculture.
- Reduce energy costs by 30% and freeze rents : Make the cost of living more accessible while relaunching ambitious climate policies.
- Reposition France as a diplomatic actor for peace : Fight for a foreign policy that promotes peace and not conflict.
A new impetus for France
The French Communist Party calls for a massive mobilization of all progressive forces to open the way to a political and social alternative. France needs a project that meets current challenges, which takes into account the demands of citizens: more social justice, an economy serving human needs and courageous ecological action. Faced with a central power which persists in a path rejected by the majority, it is time to build a new path, based on solidarity, dialogue and justice according to the PCF.
