DECRYPTION – Entering into force a week ago, the ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah is already showing signs of weakness.
A week after its entry into force, the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is being tested. The Israeli government took very seriously the mortar attacks on Monday against army positions in the area called in Israel “Mount Dov” and in Lebanon “Shebaa Farms”; a site loaded with symbolism, at the heart of the border disputes between Israel and Lebanon. The shootings were claimed by Hezbollah. Immediately afterwards, the Israeli army launched a series of strikes against « terrorist infrastructures across Lebanon »she announced in a press release.
On Tuesday, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz visited the Lebanese border. He gave a message of firmness towards Hezbollah, but also the Lebanese government. To the Shiite militia, he reminded the Israeli desire to « enforce all ceasefire agreements » with « maximum response and zero tolerance ». He also appeared threatening towards the Lebanese government, reminding it of its role in implementing the ceasefire.

Accepted at the end of November, the mechanism provides for the Lebanese army to occupy the area located south of the Litani River, evacuated in principle by the Hezbollah militias. However, promised the Israeli Minister of Defense, in the event of another violation of the agreement « there will no longer be an exemption for the State of Lebanon
