Monday evening, in Beaune around 9:45 p.m., the Gas Safety Emergency teams received a call for a smell of gas on Boulevard Saint-Jacques in Beaune. GRDF (Gaz Réseau Distribution France) teams immediately went to the site. The firefighters established a security perimeter in collaboration with the company. As a precautionary measure, natural gas distribution to 860 customers was temporarily suspended.
A GRDF technician comes to each customer’s home
Tuesday morning, the repair was underway, a mini-excavator was digging along Boulevard Saint-Jacques very close to the BIVB headquarters. “GRDF technicians, after careful research on the distribution network, have identified the origin of the leak and are currently doing everything possible to carry out the necessary repairs as quickly as possible,” GRDF indicated via a press release. At 4 p.m., GRDF assured that the repairs were completed and that technicians were traveling to each customer’s home to restore the gas supply. In accordance with current procedures, the natural gas supply will be restored as a priority for establishments open to the public and people notified by the town hall. “In the event of absence, a notice will be left, inviting you to contact the GRDF teams at 0 800 47 33 33 (toll-free number) to restore natural gas distribution as soon as possible,” GRDF emphasized.
GRDF customers can also access the free information service: Info-coupure on infocoupure.grdf.fr. In the event of a cut in their natural gas supply, customers can follow the different stages of restoration in the field and know the expected time of return to service.
