A marital track considered? An investigation into the murder of a spouse has been opened after the discovery, Monday December 2, 2024, of the bodies of a woman and her ex-boyfriend in an apartment in Toulouse, the prosecution told AFP.
The young woman, aged 23, and her ex-partner, aged 31, both succumbed to a “violent death”. Their bodies were found in the latter's apartment at the beginning of the afternoon, said the deputy prosecutor, Frédéric Cousin.

The investigation was opened for murder of a spouse, because “the marital bond is established”, but “gray areas” which will have to be clarified by the autopsy do not currently allow us to qualify with certainty this tragedy as femicidealso explained the prosecutor. At this point, this is the hypothesis favored by the investigatorsaccording to a police source. The prosecutor indicated that neither of the two deceased people, separated for several months, was known to the courts.
As a reminder, in 2023, 96 women were victims of marital femicide in Franceaccording to the latest report from the Ministry of the Interior, published on November 25, on the occasion of the international day against violence against women.
