The individual arrested Monday, November 25 in connection with two unsolved murder cases 22 and 36 years old, was indicted for the two homicides before being placed in pre-trial detention this Monday, December 2.
Is the mystery coming to an end? This Monday, November 2, a man was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention, indicated the Nanterre public prosecutor's office (Hauts-de-Seine). The individual is suspected of being involved in the assassination of two women, the first in 1988, the second in 2000.
As the public prosecutor confirmed to CNEWS on Wednesday November 27, the suspect was arrested on Monday November 25 by the gendarmes of the Grenoble Research Section (SR) before being placed in police custody.
This was lifted on Friday November 29 in the morning. At the end of this police custody, he was presented to a judge of freedoms and detention (JLD) of the Dijon judicial court, who had placed him in detention, pending his transfer to Nanterre.
As a reminder, this man in his sixties was arrested after his DNA was identified. The first murder took place on August 3, 1988. That day, the body of Nathalie Boyer, a 15-year-old girl who had gone missing in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, was found with her throat slit in the same town.
“My mother knew the suspect”
Nathalie Boyer is one of the victims of the “disappeared from Isère” file which concerns nine disappearances or murders of children in the department between 1983 and 1996.
On May 12, 2002, it was that of Leila Afif who was fished out of a canal in La Verpillière. This 40-year-old mother of five was shot and killed. It was also thanks to the seals in his file that the suspect's DNA could be found.
In an interview with the regional daily Ouest-France, Dounia, daughter of Leila Afif, estimated that the victim “knew the suspect”. “My mother knew the suspect. I thought I was going crazy. I know this family very well. We are friends. They are devastated to hear the news,” she said.
“He would drive around town, and always offer to give us a ride. I hear a lot of things about him, tongues need to be loosened,” she added.
