the essential
The 25-year-old young woman who prepared for her fight in Tarn won a European belt against the Romanian Iona Fecioru.
The evening of Saturday November 30 was magical for Olympic Boxing Tarn, during the gala organized in Saint-Maur (36). Raphaël Alary, who was making his first amateur fight, was declared the winner after three rounds by the referee's decision. In the other flagship fight of this evening, it was Nicolas Fernandez who stood out. The president and coach of Olympic Boxing Tarn was in fact at the foot of the ring to give instructions to Victoire Piteau, licensed at the Saint-Maur club, during her fight against the Romanian Iona Fecioru. And it bore fruit since the young Frenchwoman won the European championship belt in super lightweight (- 63 kg) for the first time. “It was a very hard fight, she waged war on me for 10 rounds, she didn’t give up,” the boxer confided to France 3 Centre-Val de Loire at the end of the fight. Same feeling of satisfaction for Nicolas Fernandez.
Intense preparation in Lavaur
“We followed the program to the letter, this validates 4 months of intensive work, every day. Plus she wins with panache!” To give herself maximum chances, the young boxer had decided to change everything in her preparation. At the start of summer 2024, she took over the management of Lavaur and put her gloves on at the Olympic Boxing Tarn where Nicolas Fernandez, a former boxer… from her father in Saint-Maur, has been officiating for many years.
“I needed to go to familiar territory and work with someone I trust,” confided the young woman at the start of her preparation. With two daily sessions, the young woman put every chance on her side to achieve her dream. Injured a few months ago in a serious traffic accident, which will prevent her from competing in the qualifications for the Paris Olympics, Victoire Piteau has her revenge. After a few weeks of well-deserved rest, the French boxer will set new goals which could lead her to compete for a world crown.
