Friday December 6 at 8:30 p.m., the François-Mitterrand cultural space will welcome Agen Orchestra, for its concert illustrated with the musical works of Joe Hisaishi, composer of the original soundtracks of Hayao Miyazaki. The 70 musicians of the harmony orchestra, under the direction of Laurent Nani, will be accompanied by the illustrator Adrien Demont, who will officiate live and on the big screen to transcribe, in his own way, the world of Miyazaki.
“We discovered the work of Adrien Demont and immediately wanted to work with him on a project that would combine drawing, his specialty, and music, which is ours,” explains the president of Agen Orchestra, Élodie Grossenbacher. This duality between drawing on the big screen and music was very promising.” From the idea to the completion of an illustrated concert, one parameter was essential: the choice of work. The composer Joe Hisaishi naturally imposed himself.
“Exciting”
“He is the author of the soundtracks for Hayao Miyazaki's animated films; » Probably the most famous Japanese animator, director, producer, screenwriter, writer and mangaka. The one who co-founded Studio Ghibli, which can be found in the animated films “My Neighbor Totoro”, “Grave of the Fireflies”, “Castle in the Sky”, “Kiki the Little Witch”, “Princess Mononoke », “Spirited Away”. Both Miyazaki and Hisaishi created animated works, where music and drawing are closely linked. As inseparable as Sergio Leone and Ennio Morricone.
“This drawing and this music speak to younger generations,” continues Élodie Grossenbacher. It's not that common. It's exciting for us to be able to bring young people to a concert, where a classical orchestra will play accompanied by projected drawings. This concert of another genre is a wonderful gateway to classical music for everyone. »
