What Emmanuel Macron will do in Saudi Arabia

  • The French president is going to Riyadh today. He is expected at 7 p.m. local time (5 p.m. time) for a first face-to-face meeting followed by a dinner with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, de facto ruler of the kingdom.
  • The two leaders will “enact an enhancement of the bilateral relationship to the level of a strategic partnership”, announced the Élysée.
  • They will also look at how to “work together” on the conflicts shaking the region and the risks of generalized escalation. The question of Lebanon will be at the center of the discussions.
