Solidarity within the amateur rugby family worked to help AG Thèze, victim of a fire in October 2022 which destroyed its technical room and a large part of its equipment. A new fire hit the club this weekend, but this time, there was no malfunction, but a clearly voluntary act…
The locker rooms of Avant Garde Thèze burned during the night from Saturday to Sunday. This time, this fire does not suffer from any questions. It is indeed a voluntary act, because it was a ram car which was at the origin. The car in question is that of one of the presidents, previously stolen. The vehicle crashed into the changing rooms, and the fire quickly spread to the rest of the 120m2 building. The flames were nevertheless brought under control by firefighters who quickly arrived on site.
Jean-Charles Dupin, co-president, was naturally shaken by these events, not hiding his fear in the face of this growing violence. An act classified as criminality according to the local gendarmerie.
“Escalation of violence…”
Indeed, as he clarified to our colleagues from the Républiques des Pyrénées, a few days after a burglary (value stolen estimated at more than €10,000) and having discovered that the cables of the stadium projectors had been cut, the there is no longer room for doubt as to the obvious desire to harm the North Béarnais club.
A municipal decree has been filed by the Town Hall to prohibit access to the stadium. The club, which filed a new complaint, published a press release to confirm it: “The club is bruised and stunned by the escalation of violence which affects us and we need at the moment to ensure the safety of our supporters, players and managers. »
An investigation is underway to try to find out who is angry with the club and/or the managers…
