(Florence) Fiorentina gave reassuring news on Sunday of its player Edoardo Bove, victim of illness which led to the interruption and postponement of the match against Inter Milan, during the 14e Serie A day.

Fiorentina said Bove, 22, was sedated in the intensive care unit of Florence's Careggi hospital, where he arrived in a “stable” condition. “The first cardiological and neurological examinations made it possible to exclude serious lesions of the central nervous system and the cardio-respiratory system,” added the club in a joint press release with the hospital.
The midfielder, on loan from AS Roma, collapsed after 16 minutes of play, under the horrified eyes of the other players, while Fiorentina and Inter were 0-0.
The referee interrupted the match and the teams returned to the locker rooms. The Italian League then announced in a press release that the match was definitively stopped and would be rescheduled to “a date still undetermined”.
This unease has revived at Fiorentina the painful memory of the death of former captain Davide Astori in 2018, who died in his sleep at the age of 31 before a championship match against Udinese.
Last season, AS Rome's Ivorian international Evan Ndicka, 25, suffered illness during the match against Udinese on April 14, 2024. He collapsed at the 70e minute complaining of a sharp pain in the chest.
Roma, who finally won the match 2-1 replayed a few days later, explained that their player had suffered a collapsed lung, without any heart problem having been detected.
Fiorentina started Sunday's match tied with Inter (28 points), four points behind leader Napoli, who won 1-0 at Torino earlier in the day.
