During the night from Friday to Saturday, an operation by French law enforcement made it possible to intercept a large-scale drug transaction in , in the east of . The seizure concerns 500 kilograms of cannabis resin, the value of which is estimated at more than 43 million dirhams. Three individuals were arrested in connection with this case.

This operation was carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Office (Ofast), with the support of the Organized and Specialized Crime Division. According to information reported by the site Progressauthorities were monitoring a truck registered in Morocco, which stopped to unload the illegal merchandise. It was at this precise moment that the police intervened. The truck driver, as well as two men responsible for receiving the drugs, were arrested and placed in police custody.

The involvement of a Moroccan truck in this case raises questions about the origin and routes taken by international trafficking networks. This type of interception now illustrates the complexity of the logistical flows of traffickers who operate commercial vehicles to mask their illicit activities.

This seizure, which constitutes a hard blow for drug networks, echoes other recent similar operations in the Lyon region. In October, French customs had already seized nearly a ton of ecstasy. Furthermore, cooperation between the Moroccan and French authorities in the fight against narcotics has been deepened to further dismantle these transnational networks and dry up drug flows at their source, according to official declarations.
