The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sonatrach group, Rachid Hachichi, visited, yesterday Saturday, the site of the “Alrar” gas processing complex, falling within the Stah production region in the wilaya of Illizi, in order to monitor the measures taken on the ground after the incident that occurred last Wednesday at production train n (1), without any human loss, indicates a press release from the Sonatrach Group.

According to the press release, Mr. Hachichi began his visit with an inspection of the affected area at the level of production train No. 1. A detailed technical presentation was presented to him, highlighting “the measures adopted to mitigate the impacts of the incident”.

The presentation also addressed “the arrangements implemented to completely isolate this train from the three other trains of the Alrar gas processing complex, while ensuring the stability of operations on the site,” adds the same source.

During his visit, Mr. Hachichi was able to see the situation up close and learn about the efforts being made to restore operations to normal. He also encouraged “the team of experts responsible for the investigation to carry out an in-depth investigation to identify the causes that led to the fire,” the press release specifies.

The CEO then held a meeting with complex managers and technical teams on site. This meeting focused on “the evaluation of the effectiveness of the measures taken as well as the action plan adopted to relaunch the three other production trains of the complex”, according to the press release.

During this meeting, Mr. Hachichi stressed the importance of “strict compliance” with safety standards at all stages of operations.

He praised the speed and efficiency of the teams on the ground in handling the incident, recalling that the safety of workers and facilities remains a top priority for the company.

The CEO also insisted on strengthening crisis management training programs and mobilizing all necessary resources to guarantee the security of operations.

Furthermore, Mr. Hachichi met with employees of the Stah production region. He “encouraged and encouraged them to take up the challenge by finalizing the inspection of the installations common to the four production lines, in order to successfully restart the three intact lines in the coming days,” concludes the press release from the public group.
