Health, taxes, energy: here is everything that changes in France during the month of December 2024.
1st day of the month rhymes with changes! In December, as at the start of each month, certain measures will come into effect. And there is good news and bad news for our wallets.
Increase in gas, increase in salaries, consultation with the doctor… Review of the changes from December 1, 2024.
- Doctor consultations
Consultations with general practitioners will increase by €3.50 from December 22. They thus go from €26.5 to €30. Same thing for pediatric consultations, which increase to €35 for children between 2 and 6 years old, and €39 for those under 2 years old.
The prices of many other health professionals, such as pediatricians, psychiatrists, neurologists and even geriatricians, will also be increased. The measure comes as part of the agreement signed between Health Insurance and private doctors on June 4.
After an initial increase in July, then a drop of 1.18% in November, the price of gas finally started to rise again in December. According to the Energy Regulatory Commission, the benchmark tariff will increase by 2.5% on December 1st.
This represents a kWH of 0.14941 for cooking/hot water use only and 0.11237 euros for heating use. Bad news, as winter gradually sets in in France.
- Salary increase in the hotel and catering industry
Evolution – weak – but positive in the hotel and catering sector. The employee scale is revised upwards from December 1: the minimum gross hourly salary increases from 12 euros, compared to €11.72 previously.
The measure makes it possible to place the sector grid above the hourly minimum wage, which has been €11.88 since November 1. The Prime Minister, Michel Barnier, announced his 2% increase in early October.
- Health: a secure prescription
Faced with numerous alerts of dependence on codeine and tramadol, the purchase of these drugs will have to follow new instructions from December 1st. The pills will only be prescribed on a secure prescription, with a precise indication of the strength, dosage and duration of treatment.
The duration of the prescription for codeine will also be reduced to 12 weeks, as for tramadol.
The long-awaited Christmas bonus will be automatically paid on December 17 by CAF. Only households benefiting from social minima by the CAF or the Mutuelle sociale agricole (MSA), i.e. 2.2 million households, are concerned.
Its amount, which is not indexed to inflation, will be the same as in 2023: precisely €152.45, for a single person. The Christmas “surplus” of 35%, granted last year to single-parent families, will not be renewed this year.
- Last chance for taxes
Taxpayers have until December 4 to make changes to their 2024 tax return online. By midnight it will be too late for changes. However, don't panic if you have passed this date: “good faith” users have the right to make mistakes.
