Favorites on the mat. The first day of the Yzeure National, which brought together 210 triplets, delivered its share of surprises. Will this continue today? Answer around 4:30 p.m. for the final.

With 210 triplets present at the meeting, this 17 e edition is already a real success.

After a first day which had its share of surprises with the elimination of many favourites, today it’s time for the final stages on the Millepertuis bowling alley.

Organised by AS Yzeure Pétanque, the traditional National Pétanque, an unmissable summer event, lived up to all its promises with a first day that delivered its share of surprises in weather worthy of November.

The air of St. John’s Wort clearly does not suit Christophe Sarrio. After his elimination in the round of 16 two years ago during the National de Moulins which was played in Yzeure, the 2023 doubles world champion fell again at the same stage of the competition yesterday afternoon. Indeed, the Lyonnais, associated with Clément Bousquet and Mathieu Duclos was outclassed without possible dispute (13-2) by the Malagasy triplet led by Herilantosoa Razafimahatratra, on which he will have to count for the final victory.

Another team eliminated prematurely, the one composed of Valentin Beulama, Jean-Pierre Guiblain and Eric Chertier, beaten in the group stage by the title holders led by Martial Rebottaro, accompanied by Thomas Riegel and Pierre Portier. The 2023 winners had to work hard against a young Nivernais trio who gave them a hard time in the round of 16.

The second day promises to be thrilling in every way with a plethora of candidates for the final victory, starting with the title holders and the two Malagasy teams who made a strong impression yesterday.

While waiting for the expected outcome this afternoon, the Departmental Council Prize scheduled for two days, finally took place on Saturday alone given the low number of teams entered. Before that, 86 veteran teams competed in the departmental triplets, this Friday, as a prelude to the National.
