Beautiful cross from Bishop (California) for the American climber Melina Costanza who offers herself as her first 8B+ boulder “Direct North”, an iconic highball located on Grandma Peabody (opened by Shawn Diamond in 2009). Known in the competitive world with 5 US bouldering championship titles, and a double difficulty/boulder recently at the national championships a month ago, Melina is now relaxing in a natural environment and achieving her hardest and highest bouldering! Motivated by her friend Alex Johnson who had shown her videos of the bouldering, Melina replied that she would never complete a passage of this height. “Direct North” is a direct exit from “Direction” 8B into “Magnetic North” 7C, for approximately 8/9 meters of physical climbing on small arches. “Turns out I’m not as stubborn as I thought.” She concludes! The video of the winning attempt at the end of the article!
