PSeveral people were arrested on Saturday in Kosovo, where security measures around “critical installations” were reinforced after an explosion which damaged a vital canal for the water supply of thousands of inhabitants and two thermal power stations. Pristina immediately accused Serbia of having “orchestrated” this “attack”, which Belgrade denied. The attack led to various reactions from the international community.
European Union
The head of European Union diplomacy Josep Borrell condemned on Saturday the attack on a vital water supply canal that occurred the day before in Kosovo, an act of sabotage described as “terrorist”.
“This is a despicable act of sabotage against the essential civilian infrastructure of Kosovo, which provides drinking water to a considerable part of the population,” wrote the Spanish official in a press release, also denouncing “an attack terrorist.”
France
France “condemned” on Saturday the attack on a vital canal for water supply in Kosovo and demanded “that all light be shed on this attack” while Pristina accuses Serbia, which denies it.
“This attack could have had considerable consequences, particularly on Kosovo’s water and electricity supply,” said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, calling for “the perpetrators to be brought before the Kosovar justice system.”
