17Cyber aims to collect complaints from people who are victims of online harassment, hacking or attempted fraud such as phishing or spoofing.
Nicolas Daragon, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, recalls in this regard that 300,000 complaints are filed each year for these various facts. 90% of French households have already been victims of these practices, from the sending of a dubious and misleading email to a concrete scam involving theft of money. Administrations and businesses were also targeted, like the Ardèche Departmental Council.
17Cyber will also be launched on December 17, a date which was not chosen at random, as indicated by Nicolas Daragon, also in charge of daily security on the set of CNews : « The platform will be implemented on December 17 […]just before the Christmas period when we use our bank cards a lot. » It will be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even during public holidays, and particularly during the Christmas holidays.
