The Green Brocante gives a second life to plants and a second chance to men and women mistreated by life. The Nantes association has just won the Regional Prize for the Social and Solidarity Economy. It employs homeless people within its integration project. The two co-founders wanted to combine social mission and the fight against plant waste.
They have set up the First Hours program, which allows a very gradual return to working life, via an hourly contract, ranging from three to twenty hours per week.
Plants from donations
The plants come from donations from professionals, wholesalers, florists, crematoriums, etc. And from individuals. These can be indoor or outdoor plants, fresh or dried flowers, but also pots or plant pots. In 2023, fifty-four tons of plants and three tons of flowers were collected, avoiding the trash.
The Green Brocante store is open every afternoon, from Tuesday to Friday, at Wattignies, 13, boulevard des Martyrs-Nantais-de-la-Résistance, on the island of Nantes.
