Two other people were indicted and placed in pre-trial detention in the investigation into the death of a man during a clandestine poker game at the beginning of September in La Rochelle, in Charente-Maritime, reports Friday November 29 France Bleu La Rochelle. In total, four people are currently indicted and placed in pre-trial detention in this case. Two first suspects had already been arrested.
The four suspects, aged 20 to 22, are being prosecuted for murder and armed robbery. According to investigators, it is possible that each played a specific role: a suspected shooter, another robber present alongside him in the apartment, a driver who was waiting for them outside and a sponsor. The prosecution, however, warns that the roles of each person remain to be confirmed because some dispute their involvement. No one admits to being the author of the fatal shooting.
On November 14, one of the suspects, known to the police for cases related to drugs and who knew he was wanted in this other case, was the first to go to the La Rochelle police station. He admitted his participation in the robbery but denied being the author of the shot which killed the organizer. A second man, arrested on November 21, had also denied being responsible for the victim's death. However, he admitted to having participated in the robbery during which “several tens of thousands of euros” had been stolen. The other arrests took place until Tuesday. The money collected has not yet been found.
At the beginning of September, several hooded men entered a house in La Rochelle where regulars met regularly for clandestine poker games. A robbery had taken place to collect the money collected for the organization of the tournament. The organizer, aged 32 and owner of the place, then tried to intervene and was shot in the head.
