Fan of OM, who is the new priest of the Saint-Joseph parish in Pays de Falaise?

The parishes of Falaise, Potigny and Bretteville-sur-Laize have become one for several months. They remain autonomous on a daily basis, but are now administratively united within the parish of Saint-Joseph in Pays de Falaise since the reorganization of the diocese. “From 51 parishes in the Bayeux-Lisieux diocese which covers the department, we went in 2024 to 15 parishes” , underlines Bernard Mauger, priest responsible for the parish of Saint-Germain-en-Plaine (Bretteville-sur-Laize) for 20 years.

Three priests in the parish

The latter and Father Louis Caboret are the two vicars of Saint-Joseph in Pays de Falaise which includes 59 communes. They assist Father Jean-Pierre Ondoa Messi, appointed parish priest for six years of this new parish. He has been in residence at the presbytery of Falaise since September 2023. His installation will take place on Sunday 1^is December, in Bretteville-sur-Laize, in the presence of Jacques Hébert, bishop of the diocese. “He will give me the keys to the churches and the responsibility of the three communities,” says Father Ondoa.

Who is he?

Originally from Cameroon, he entered the church 23 years ago. “I arrived in France fifteen years ago and I belong to the community of the Beatitudes”, adds the one who studied animal biology, economics and theology. “I want to have a community where love is lived and given, where others are welcomed like a brother,” evokes the one who claims another passion, that of football and Olympique de Marseille.

The religious service will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m. “There will be no other mass this weekend in the parish, neither in Falaise, nor in Potigny, nor in Saint-Sylvain. It will be preceded from 9 a.m. by repetition of songs, a time of conviviality and time for sharing in small groups. , specifies Bernard Mauger.

Sunday 1^is December, installation mass of the parish priest, at 11:15 a.m. The program: 9 a.m., rehearsal of songs in church; 9:30 a.m., reception, conviviality time; 10 a.m., teaching by Mgr Habert; 10:30 a.m., time for sharing in small groups.
