Ali Hassan Khalil, political aide to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, said Israel had failed to achieve victory in its war against Lebanon, despite the heavy losses suffered by the country in terms of lives, leaders and infrastructure. In an interview with the Lebanese channel MTV, Khalil said: “Israel can kill, but it cannot triumph.”
He also stressed that the Lebanese army constitutes “the pillar of the implementation of resolution 1701”insisting on the need to fully support it to ensure stability in the south of the country.
Israeli violations denounced
Khalil criticized the incomplete implementation of Resolution 1701, which he said did not prevent Israel from occupying border points and the village of Ghajar while continuing to violate Lebanese maritime and air space.
He called for careful documentation of Israeli violations by the Lebanese government and urged residents of southern villages to follow the army’s directives regarding their return. He also stressed that, as part of the ceasefire agreement, Israel has not “no right to fire or carry out airstrikes under any pretext”.
