A new fire and rescue center in Saint-Laurent-Nouan in 2026
A new fire and rescue center in Saint-Laurent-Nouan will be put into service in 2026. A real challenge for territorial security, this unique system in France, which links State services, SDIS 41 and EDF , was recorded by an agreement signed in Blois on November 20, 2024.
To respond to a request from the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) to put in place additional means allowing rapid intervention to fight fires, the EDF Saint-Laurent power plant, in collaboration with the Prefecture and the fire brigade of Loir-et-Cher, is launching a project to build a fire and rescue center (CIS) based on Route de Crouy in Saint-Laurent-Nouan, on 11,600 m2 of land donated by the center.
Due to the proximity of the Domaine National de Chambord, discussions also focused on two other issues: the protection of cultural heritage and that of the forest site.
The future center will have complete and modern equipment to deal with the specific challenges of interventions on a nuclear site and in sensitive areas of cultural and forestry heritage. The center will also be equipped with a sustainable infrastructure integrating innovative solutions such as geothermal energy and water reuse to optimize its energy performance and environmental impact.
The new operational center will cover 9 municipalities: Chambord, Crouy-sur-Cosson, La Ferté-Saint-Cyr, Maslives, Montlivault, Muides-sur-Loire, Saint-Dyé-sur-Loire, Saint-Laurent-Nouan and Thoury.
