When they arrived on scene, flames were coming from the windows of the home. The firefighters were able to extract the occupant from the premises but despite their attempt at resuscitation, “he unfortunately died on the spot”, explains column leader Aurélien Devaux, from the Domfront barracks.
Twenty-three firefighters and nine engines from the La Ferté-Macé, Domfront, Céaucé and Couterne barracks are still mobilized at 8 p.m. “The fire is not yet out, we are working to prevent it from spreading to the attic and the roof,” continues Aurélien Devaux. The house is isolated in the hamlet.
The gendarmerie and the Smur are also on site. Emergency vehicles and smoke are visible from departmental road 916, just before the two roundabouts located before E.Leclerc and Lidl.
The circumstances of this fire have not been clarified at this time by the Orne fire and rescue center.
