Lhe inauguration of the Cap’artisans craft center took place on Wednesday, November 27 at 11 a.m., in the presence of Ms. Marie Aubert, the new prefect, Jacques Auzou, president of Grand Périgueux, Thierry Cipierre, mayor of Coulounieix-Chamiers, Agnès Reiner, deputy general director of the national agency for territorial cohesion (ANCT) and Marie-Laure Faure, departmental advisor. Located at the corner of Boulevard Jean Moulin and Rue Mounet-Sully, this new facility is part of the operations carried out as part of the “Chamiers c’ur de ville 2025” urban renewal project.

Supported by the ANCT, it benefited from numerous co-financing including the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) for technical assistance, the Region, Grand Périgueux, the Department and the town of Coulounieix-Chamiers. Built on a former urban wasteland of 1,200 m2, it is secured by a gate and video surveillance. In service since the end of 2022, this artisanal center is now 100% commercialized with the twelve workshops available for rental, with an area ranging from 78 to 115 m2. A local commitment charter was signed by each of the occupants of the site in order to encourage this local involvement with the residents.

“A beautiful revitalization project”

“For 5 years, residents have lived to the rhythm of the work and the result is there,” said Mayor Thierry Cipierre. Artisans now benefit from rehabilitated buildings promoting a better image of the neighborhood, but also from new local public service facilities grouped with the solidarity center and the Claudie Haigneré neighborhood center. Add to this the Sîle project, around the social and solidarity economy and urban cultures, which will see the light of day in 2025 in the former American camp of Bas-Chamiers. »
