Another sudden death hits the bodybuilding world. José Mateus Correia Silva, a well-known bodybuilder in Brazil, died on November 22 at the age of only 28, reports the daily Globo. The bodybuilder died of a heart attack while training at the gym. Feeling ill, he called the fire brigade to be taken to hospital. After losing consciousness, José Mateus Correia Silva lost his life despite emergency resuscitation attempts. According to José Mateus Correia Silva’s brother, the latter had no health problems. “We are all very united, we have received many messages of affection. We are very Catholic, we believe in eternal life and we will face it together.“

During his career, José Mateus Correia Silva notably finished ninth in the South American championships in 2018. He also created his own nutrition line and was the manager of several food supplement stores. On Instagram, the brand’s page paid a vibrant tribute to the man nicknamed “Zé”: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of José Matheus, affectionately called Zé. His unexpected departure leaves us speechless and with an immense void. Zé was much more than a brilliant entrepreneur. He was passionate about bodybuilding and bodybuilding, dedicating his life to inspiring and transforming the journeys of many athletes as a coach. His love for sports and athletes was evident in every gesture, every word of encouragement and every sacrifice he made for those who trusted him.“
