The administrative court of Grenoble (Isère) canceled on Friday November 29 the ban on demonstrations on Saturday in Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme), in connection with the death of Thomas in Crépol, France Bleu Drôme Ardèche learned, which consulted prescriptions. The rallies of the ultra-right and associations against racism, planned for Saturday, can therefore take place legally.
The prefect of Drôme had issued an order to prohibit any demonstration this weekend in the department, linked to the death of Thomas, in particular for risks to public order. But the State representative was unable to prove, according to the decision rendered, that he did not have the necessary police reinforcements.
The rallies are organized, for the ultra-right, by the collective “Justice pour les Nôtres”, and for the anti-racist left, by the association “Collectif pour Romans” and the ASTI Romans (association of solidarity with all ·s immigrants) and the CNT CCS union of Drôme and Vaucluse. These associations and groups had filed requests for interim relief following the prefect’s decision.
Despite the request of the mayor of Romans-sur-Isère who fears excesses, an ultra-right demonstration “for Thomas and all victims of immigration“can therefore be held, as well as another, initiated by the left”faced with racist recovery“.
