A terrorist who opened fire on an Israeli bus near the West Bank settlement of Ariel was shot dead by security forces, according to first responders.
The first images from the scene appear to show that the terrorist was armed with an assault rifle.
Eight people were injured in the shooting, according to the Magen David Adom (MDA) ambulance service.

According to MDA, four people were hit by gunfire, three of whom are in serious condition and one in moderate condition.
Four other people were slightly injured by shards of glass, adds MDA.
A military source indicates that the shooter was killed on the spot.
According to an initial IDF investigation, the terrorist left from a village in the Nablus region.
The terrorist drove from the Tapuah junction area to the Gitai Avisar junction – a road without internal checkpoints – and stopped his car on the side of the road, about 150 meters from a bus stop. From there, he opened fire on the bus while approaching it on foot.
IDF troops stationed in the area returned fire and killed him shortly after the attack began, according to the investigation.
The IDF believes that the terrorist did not act alone and that there were other accomplices who may have provided the M-16 assault rifle and the vehicle to carry out the attack.
