The Rhône-Mediterranean basin committee is a water parliament which brings together representatives of local authorities, industrialists, farmers, consumers, associations and the State, on the scale of a large watershed which extends from Occitanie to the Grand Est via Ain. The latter represents 11,000 rivers and 15.8 million inhabitants. The committee invites, via a press release, its residents to give their opinion on water issues and the risks of flooding.
Addressing growing concerns
“Climate change, droughts, floods, water quality and its effects on our health, the decline of biodiversity… are current issues that concern us all. To meet these challenges, public policies must respond to the growing concerns of citizens,” he explains. It is with this in mind that the Rhône-Mediterranean basin committee and the State are launching “an online consultation whose opinions will be taken into account to update the orientations for the period 2028-2033”.
The subjects covered in this consultation relate to the preservation of water resources and the risk of flooding.
