The 25-year-old man suspected of the murder in September of a municipal agent in Grenoble was handed over to French justice on Thursday evening, a week after his arrest in Portugal, we learned on Friday from an airport source.

Abdoul Diallo arrived in France on Thursday evening at Roissy airport, a week after his arrest in Póvoa de Lanhoso, 70 kilometers north of Porto. After 74 days on the run and subject to a European arrest warrant, he did not oppose his handover to France, according to the Portuguese police.

He is suspected of having killed Lilian Dejean, a 49-year-old cleaning agent, on September 8 in Grenoble. This father was hit by a bullet in the chest while trying to hold back a man who had caused a traffic accident while driving a powerful rental car registered in Poland.

Domiciled in the suburbs of Grenoble

Identity papers in the name of Abdoul Diallo, residing in the suburbs of Grenoble, were found in the car abandoned by its driver who had fled on foot. Lilian Dejean died shortly after in hospital.

According to the judicial police in Isère, more than forty investigators participated in the search for the suspect.

Grenoble prosecutor Eric Vaillant specified that the suspect had 19 convictions on his criminal record, many for acts of violence but also for drug trafficking.

The drama had all the more resonance in Isère as it occurred in the middle of a black streak for the metropolis of Grenoble, where according to the authorities a “gang war” between drug traffickers was taking place.
