Netanyahu: “Conditions for hostage release deal have improved significantly”

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu gave an interview to Channel 14 last night (Thursday) in which he discussed a possible agreement for the release of hostages in Gaza.

”I think conditions have improved considerably. The truth is that the ones who derailed every deal each time were Sinwar and Hamas. We now have an opportunity. I don't want to go into detail. We are doing a lot of things, a lot of things that are bringing us closer to their release and I will not give up.”

At the same time, the Prime Minister affirmed that he was not ready to stop the war in Gaza but would accept a temporary ceasefire: “We have two different objectives. In the north (Lebanon, editor's note) we are preventing armament, what is the northern Philadelphia axis? The Syrian-Lebanese border. What do we do? We are bombing the crossing points and I told Assad that he is playing with fire. We'll see if he got the message. In the south, what do you want me to do? That I bomb Egypt? We have a peace agreement with Egypt. I will not let any actor rearm Gaza and that is why our goal in the north is different from that in the south and the conditions in the north are different from those in the south. But the answer is clear: I am ready for a ceasefire in the south to be able to obtain the release of the hostages.”
