The Telethon returns for its 38th edition on Télévisions channels, Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, 2024, with a sponsor with pop and colorful accents: the singer Mika.

Friday November 29 and Saturday November 30, 2024, here we go again for thirty hours of live air time! From 6:45 p.m., Sophie Davant and Nagui reset the donation counter and kick off the Telethon on France 2. After Vianney last year, it is Mika who takes on the role of godfather of this 38th edition. “I accepted the Telethon because it's something quite miraculous. It's very inspiring. We look for magic in life and there is much more magic at the Telethon than in Harry Potter”rejoices the 41-year-old singer.

Mika: a sponsor of choice for the 2024 Telethon

On the Telethon website, he adds: “Research is progressing and children are living thanks to the extraordinary work of everyone. But there remains to be done for those who do not yet have drugs and for all the ongoing research which must succeed! This is why I am happy to be the sponsor of this 2024 edition. Without you, researchers will not advance as quickly or worse, will no longer advance !” The event should reflect its image: colorful and authentic! “I hope to be able to create sincere musical sequences while remaining in this prime context”he confides. From the opening, Mika “will witness the stories of families, the advances in research and the unfailing mobilization of thousands of volunteers”. And he is also responsible for hosting a lively evening with the program “the greatest musical comedies, the acrobatics of Cirque Phénix, the mischief of Gus the Illusionist or a crazy medley from the cult Franglaises show”.

Telethon 2024: the ball of generosity

This evening will therefore continue at 9:05 p.m. on France 3 with this great popular ball in the colors of Broadway (Sophie Davant will this time be accompanied by Cyril Féraud), before switching back to France 2 for a night of video games presented by Samuel Étienne (the Téléthon Gaming), controllers in hand. Objective of these thirty hours of live broadcast, celebration and solidarity: to surpass the 80,671,222 euros in pledges for the 2023 edition for the benefit of the AFM, the French Association against myopathies. According to the event website, they made it possible to collect: “37.6 million euros dedicated to helping patients, 53.3 million euros for the Healing mission (+ €6.9 million in the form of advances and investments in research) and 38 clinical trials in course or in preparation for 29 different diseases”. And why not, this year, beat the record held by sponsors Gérard Jugnot and Thierry Lhermitte in 2006, which amounts to more than 101 million euros? There is only one key word to achieve this: your donations!
