Dmitry Ukhin met a tragic end on Friday in his home in the Kirichi district (northwest). That day, the 55-year-old Russian brought home his cat Styopka, who had gone home two days before. The ginger tom obviously had no desire to come home: when the evening came, he started scratching his owner’s legs. Dmitry, who suffered from diabetes and poor blood clotting, began to bleed profusely.

To make matters worse, the fifty-year-old was alone at home at the time, his wife being out, reports Canal 24. The unfortunate man managed to call a neighbor for help. “Around 11 p.m., a man called the emergency services to report that one of his friends was bleeding from his leg due to a burst vein,” said a member of the local police. The man did what he could to treat Dmitry, but help took time to arrive, he said.

Given the seriousness of his injuries, the fifty-year-old had already died when help arrived. According to the victim’s wife, Styopka is a friendly and harmless cat who likes to go for walks outside. Natalya said it was inconceivable to her that the animal would attack her husband like this. It is unclear what fate will be reserved for the animal, as forensic experts have yet to confirm the causes of Dmitry’s death.
