The JonBenét Ramsey case is a chilling murder case. For good reason, the murder of this 6-year-old little girl has never been elucidated and, since Monday November 25, 2024, a documentary has returned to this sordid affair which shocked America.

The disappearance of JonBenét Ramsey which shocked everyone

Cold Case: who killed the mini-miss?available on the streaming platform Netflix, returns to that evening of Boxing Day, in 1996, when John and Patsy Ramsey discovered that their 6-year-old daughter, JonBenét, had disappeared. At that point, all that was left of her was a message left in the kitchen of the family home demanding a ransom.

In the same day, it’s more horror. In the basement of the house, the girl’s father discovered the child’s lifeless body. JonBenét was sexually assaulted and later murdered in her own home. If JonBenét’s family and loved ones were quickly suspected by the local police, the case was also over-publicized in the 90s, becoming a true crime followed throughout America.

The murder of JonBenét Ramsey has never been solved

The circumstances of the little girl’s death, however, have not brought together all the experts. Some agreed that the child died after being strangled, while others said it was head trauma that caused his death.

Two years after JonBenét’s death, a first verdict was rendered by the grand jury. For the latter, the parents had to be charged with child abuse resulting in death and complicity in a crime. However, Alex Hunter, Boulder County prosecutor at the time, opposed this conviction, considering that there was not enough evidence to incriminate them.

More than 20 years after the events, a man arrested in Thailand confessed to the murder, but the investigation that followed his confession proved his innocence. In 2019, new elements relaunched the investigation: the little girl’s older brother, Burke Ramsey, was suspected. In question, the jealousy he would have felt at the time regarding the celebrity of his little sister, winner of several mini-miss competitions in the United States. This new hypothesis does not give anything yet.

Recently, the local police said through a statement: “this crime has left a hole in the hearts of many, and we will never stop investigating until we find JonBenét’s murderer”, can we read. The true crime investigation can be found in the documentary Cold Case: who killed the mini-miss? on Netflix.
