Algeria Football – Left side defender Yanis Hamache, player of MCO (Mouloudia Club d'Oran), recently made headlines following an incident at Ahmed Ben Bella airport in Oran.
The player was arrested by Algerian customs as he was preparing to board a flight to France, due to a large sum of money in undeclared currency. This affair has sparked numerous reactions and speculations in the media and on social networks.
According to several sources, Yanis Hamache was carrying around 12,000 euros in cash. This amount would have been considered an infringement of Algerian legislation on currency controls, requiring a prior declaration for any sum transported above a certain threshold. Following this alleged offense, the player would have been taken to the security of Daïra d'Es-Senia to spend the night.
Yanis Hamache sets things straight
Faced with growing speculation, the player wanted to clarify the situation via a publication on his Instagram account. Hamache explained that the money in question was accompanied by a check, but that he did not immediately have the necessary bank documentation to prove the origin of this sum. However, he claims to have resolved the problem quickly by providing the required documents. He also asked his detractors not to amplify the incident, recalling that this type of situation can happen to anyone.
Despite his inactivity this season due to injury, Hamache remains an important figure in the Algerian championship and one of the highest paid players. This episode, however, highlights the legal obligations surrounding the transport of currencies, a subject that affects many travelers. Hamache now hopes to turn the page and focus on his return to football.
