A Facebook post published in 2010 by Bartolomé Lenoir, current candidate of the far-right union in the legislative elections in the Creuse constituency, has been circulating on social networks for a few days. In this publication, the student at the time, is complacent towards the GUD, a far-right group recently dissolved by the government. A writing that the person concerned says today he does not regret. While condemning the “excesses” of the ultra-nationalist organization.

Perhaps you have seen it on social media? For a few days now, a screenshot of a Facebook post from 2010 by Bartolomé Lenoir, a candidate for the far-right union in the legislative elections in the Creuse constituency, has been circulating on the internet. An online post that has now been deleted, but which, after being exhumed by internet users, has earned Éric Ciotti’s close friend a few arrests on the web.

A complacent post towards the GUD

The reason is that the man who was only 18 at the time was rather complacent with the GUD (Groupe union défense), a far-right organization known for its violent actions. And which has just been dissolved by the government, in the Council of Ministers, on June 26, at the request of the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.

“Don’t you think we should try to find out what the guy wants rather than stupidly banning them without even trying to understand them? The new guy may not be the same as the old one! It’s ridiculous to overreact”, wrote Bartolomé Lenoir, in an approximate syntax, in the said post, published at the time on a group entitled “Against the return of the GUD to Assas“.

The Parisian university Panthéon-Assas is in fact the place where, at the end of the 1960s, this collective of ultra-nationalist and xenophobic students was formed. University where, in February 2010, Bartolomé Lenoir studied economics and management.

No regrets, but a condemnation

Pour The mountainthe candidate of RN-À droite les amis d’Éric Ciotti, returned to this digital writing of his youth:

At the time, I was at the Panthéon Assas University. I was never a member of the GUD, let’s be very clear. But I think that, given the spelling mistakes, it was a long time ago. I had just graduated and given the scuffles at the time, it was a very politicized university, I wanted to say that in order to be able to act, you have to understand. But I condemn the GUD. It is an association that has recently had some excesses. I don’t regret anything, but on the other hand, bringing up things from when I was 18 doesn’t make sense.
