After the impressive fire of Rivesaltes on Wednesdayseveral fires were observed this Thursday, July 4. At around 4 p.m. first, near the A9 motorwayat three separate locations, near Salses-le-Château, towards Spain. A helicopter and around sixty firefighters were mobilised. Among them, around twenty came from Aude to provide support. The fire was contained at the end of the afternoon and covered 3,500 square metres. The motorway was not closed.

The helicopter was deployed three times in two days

Then in the evening, significant resources were deployed this Thursday for a fire in the commune of Villelongue-de-la-Salanque. 2,000 square meters burned. In the area, numerous sheds and family gardensthe ground is very dry. Two helicopters carried out several water drops on the difficult-to-access area, starting at 6 p.m. Around a hundred firefighters were on site at the height of the fire.

On social media, the Pyrénées-Orientales firefighters are calling for caution. Cigarette butts should of course be thrown into an ashtray and not on the ground. Work should be carried out away from vegetation, as should barbecues.
