“The first time, we say to ourselves that it was chance, that something must have caught fire. The second time, the coincidence is astonishing. The third, it becomes really worrying”. In the space of two months, three fires occurred in the same place, 8 rue d'Anjou, in the Argentine district of Beauvais.
In this private residence managed in co-ownership, three buildings are adjoining. The first fire occurred on October 3the second, the November 15th and the third, the November 22. All these events took place in the cellars of the building. “The residents are panicked, and rightly so!”is indignant Daniel D. former president of the owners' union since 1978, who has not “never experienced this”. If he does not live in the residence, he is the father of a tenant of the building.
Electricity cut off in common areas
“There were no serious injuries and fortunately. However, three people were still taken to hospital for smoke poisoning during the second fire”. The union also filed a complaint following the redundancy of events. “Now there is a real psychosis in the building”relates the Beauvaisien. Especially since since October 3the inhabitants have no more electricity in common areas and the whole building no longer has a television.
The manager Enedis also visited the site on Friday November 22 and noted the need to carry out repairs.
Since November 22, a investigation is carried out by the police, because there, too “hard to believe this is a coincidence”according to a source close to the matter. Currently, the origin of the fire is not known. However, this “there is no doubt about the character voluntary facts”. Contacted, the Oise prefecture confirmed “that particular attention is being paid by the police to these events and this building”.
