In Pibrac, a first stone laid for the new Fire and Rescue Center (CIS)

A symbolic gesture. Tuesday November 26, 2024Sébastien Vincini, president of the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne, represented by Jean-Louis Llorca, vice-president in charge of city policy, Gilbert Hébrard, president of the board of directors of the departmental fire and Haute-Garonne rescue (SDIS 31), in the presence of other public figures posed the first stone of the future Pibrac Fire and Rescue Center (CIS)near . Controller General Sébastien Vergé, departmental director of fire and rescue services, was also present during the event.

For the Departmental Council, building useful equipment for the public service of our fellow citizens is never trivial, building a fire station is even less so. I am delighted to see the future Pibrac barracks come to fruition for an opening in a year,” declared Sébastien Vincini.

A new rescue center in Pibrac

The future rescue center is located in the Parc de l’Escalette ZAC in Pibrac, on a plot of 5,369 m2. The planned construction will include “approximately 1,040 m2 of surface area“, indicates the Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne, distributed as follows:

  • 390 m2 for vehicle storage rooms
  • 88 m2 for technical premises
  • Et 435 m2 for administrative, catering, sports and accommodation premises.

The future barracks will accommodate 10 professional firefighters and 38 volunteer firefightersand will be responsible for covering the municipalities of Brax, La Salvetat Saint-Gilles, Pibrac, Léguevin, Lévignac, Lasserre-Pradère, Menville and Mérenvielle. Construction work is expected to be completed in October 2025.

The Haute-Garonne Departmental Council invests massively in security

To support the action of 2,400 firefighters from Haute-Garonne and respond to the demographic growth of the department, “the Departmental Council is investing in the construction of new fire and rescue centers, as close as possible to Haut-Garonnaises and Haut-Garonnais”.

From 2015 to 2021, 19 projects for the construction or reconstruction of relief centers were carried outfor a total investment of 38 million euros. In 2024, the Departmental Council allocated 64.1 million euros to SDIS 31, thus representing “64% of its operating budget”.
