What future for the emblematic building on rue des Roses in Mondelange?

The building on rue des Roses in Mondelange is currently being redeveloped. This “block” dating from the 60s has become aging.

With the help of excavators and under the gray weather of November, certain sections of the building on rue des Roses in Mondelange are falling little by little. This historic building in the city where 80 housing units were available dates from the 1960s. However, the weight of the years is felt. The “block” deserved a refresh.

The municipality and the lessor Vivest have understood this well. So, as part of urban redevelopment, entrances 25 and 33 to the building are razed. This destruction, caused by the mayor of Mondelange, Rémy Sadocco, aimed to “break the notion of neighborhood or residential bar”. From now on, modernization is highlighted in particular in a renovation program of the lessor and the State.

Where have the residents of entrances 25 and 33 gone?

Work continues, leading to a reduction in housing within this residential building. Now, there will be 64 housing units, or 16 fewer. For the residents of the two razed sections, they were supported by the city and the social landlord to be rehoused in Mondelange and its surroundings: “In addition to that, there were natural vacations, so the rehousing went smoothly”.

Beyond the two destroyed parts, the other apartments have been rehabilitated with new bathrooms. In addition, the building will be equipped with elevators with secure access, 8 concrete cages are under construction at the rear of the building. The face is repainted gray to bring a new lease of life to the place. The end of the work is scheduled for this calendar year 2024.
