Elements of the Oujda prefectural judicial police service, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), arrested, on Wednesday, five individuals, including four members of the same family, for their alleged involvement in a criminal network of international gold trafficking, we learned from a security source.
The suspects, aged between 26 and 68, were arrested during a security operation carried out in the city of Oujda, indicates the same source, specifying that the searches carried out in three houses operated in the same city resulted in the seizure of 87 small gold bars, weighing a total of 33,130 kilograms, in addition to large sums of money in national and European currencies, suspected of coming from this criminal activity.
The same source adds that the searches carried out as part of this case also led to the seizure of two cars, a motorcycle, bladed weapons and an electronic scale, suspected of being used in this criminal act.
The suspects were placed in police custody for the judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with the aim of identifying the ramifications of this criminal activity and arresting other people possibly involved. .
