The body of a woman in her thirties was discovered on Wednesday under the rubble of a house blown up in the middle of the night by an explosion of still undetermined origin, in Saint-Loup-de-Naud (Seine-et -Marne), we learned from police and judicial sources, confirming information from Le Parisien.
According to the public prosecutor of Melun, Jean-Michel Bourlès, the hypothesis of the presence of explosives which would have been stored in the house by its former owner is favored. But assessments must be carried out to formally establish the cause of the explosion.
The deceased woman was born in 1993, according to the prosecution. A man, who managed to leave the scene alone after the explosion, was transported to a hospital in Paris “in serious condition”, the department's firefighters spokesperson told AFP. At the end of the afternoon, his vital prognosis was “no longer in jeopardy”, according to a police source.
At the end of the day, a large security perimeter was still defined around the house, reported the same police source. According to “Le Parisien”, the pavilion was completely blown up, in this village of 900 inhabitants near Provins, and houses suffered damage from the explosion, which gave rise to much speculation among the inhabitants.
Around 5:00 a.m., nearly 60 firefighters were engaged on site, including teams specializing in rubble rescue, and dogs and dog handlers, according to the firefighters.
