The directors share their ideas to extend the story and its concept.
After its excellent launch in the United States last weekend, the horror film Heretic arrives in France this Wednesday. Very favorably received by the press, the A24 production could well return for a sequel. So when Heretic 2 ?
The directors, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, confirm in Variety that they have already discussed ideas for a new film, a form of “spiritual continuation of Heretic“, as an exploration of religion and sects.
“There are some things that we have in mind and that we have talked about that look like spiritual sequels… It would be another film exploring religion, cults or other hot topics that we want to see on screen and who go to uncomfortable places.
We understand that the project is not yet very advanced, but Beck and Woods explain that “what was exciting about Hereticis that we have seen many films that could be religious in nature, but which do not necessarily provide a basis for discussion capable of going beyond the screening. However, Heretic leads spectators to continue talking about this with those close to them. We remain engaged in the film.”
And the two directors conclude: “We live in a sometimes very polarized world and we are all more or less hypnotized by this or that speech. We want to incorporate this into some of our upcoming projects.”
