The RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating the murder of two people in Chipman, in the central part of the province.

On Monday, around 8 a.m., RCMP officers were called to the scene of a vehicle on fire with two people inside, near Midland Road in Chipman.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the bodies of two people inside a white Chevrolet Equinox that had been consumed by fire.

The New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation and is treating the deaths as homicides.

Chipman is a community located approximately 140 km south of Miramichi and approximately 75 km northeast of Fredericton.

Anyone who has traveled or resides in the area and may have security camera, dashboard or doorbell camera footage between 8 p.m. November 24 and 8 a.m. November 25 is asked to contact police.
