More than two years after the wanton murder of a young man without incident in the Montreal-North district, the Montreal police are conducting searches on Tuesday on the banks of the Mille-Îles River to find firearms that would have been used during the crime.
Divers from the SPVM, assisted by police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, surveyed the watercourse and its banks, on the Laval side.

That evening, the 26-year-old young man was chatting with friends in the parking lot of a high school in Montreal North when hooded suspects approached, before opening fire in their direction.

This homicide occurred at a time when armed violence was wreaking havoc in the metropolis and shooting events were occurring at a frantic pace.
Jayson Colin had no criminal history, had no ties to the criminal underworld and was very involved in his community. He would have been the victim of a completely gratuitous murder, according to our information.
To this day, the crime remains unpunished.
But now information obtained by investigators in recent weeks has led law enforcement to take an interest in the Mille-Îles River and its banks, under Highway 15.
Authorities strongly believe this is where Jayson Colin’s killer(s) disposed of their firearms after the murder.
