Indeed, the Mayor of the city was present at the inauguration of the Christmas lights on the Champs-Élysées which takes place every year. This year, Tony Estanguet was called upon to sponsor this wonderful event. He was therefore accompanied by Anne Hidalgo but also by the mayor of the 8th arrondissement, Jeanne d’Hauteserre and the president of the Champs-Élysées committee Marc-Antoine Jamet. To celebrate this event, it was the artist Santa who made the trip to sing a few notes and please the many spectators who came to the most beautiful avenue in the world. Proud Anne Hidalgo said: “Nine years ago, we wanted to take on the challenge of the Games with Tony. These games were more than just Games, Paris was a party“. The illuminations will shine on the 400 trees from 5 p.m. to midnight, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, until the end of the holidays.
Just two days after these festive illuminations, Anne Hidalgo is once again in the spotlight. While numerous speculations surrounding the Paris town hall continue to arise, the politician has put an end to the rumors concerning her. This Tuesday, November 26, the PS town hall announced in an interview with our colleagues from Monde that she had no intention of running for a third term. Elected in 2014, then re-elected in 2020, she nevertheless assures that she will remain mayor “until the last day” of 2026 and that she will not leave politics. “I will not run for a third term. It’s a decision I made a long time ago.”she admitted. And to detail: “I have always believed that two mandates were enough to bring about profound changes. Out of respect for ParisiansI wanted to announce it early enough and at a time that would allow us to prepare a calm transmission to support a team.”. It was Rémi Féraud, senator and president of the Paris group in common on the Paris council, that the mayor of Paris considered to succeed her. For what ? “I know him well, I have liked it for a very long time ; he is the one who will be able to carry our history and reinvent a future for Paris”she told Monde.

The current mayor of Paris added: “He has the necessary solidity, seriousness and ability to bring people together. She has never hidden her ambition to be a candidate for the Paris municipal elections in 2026. Anne Hidalgo, with whom she clashes at every Paris council meeting, did not mince her words on this subject: “At city hall, we are not there to receive the prize for political humor”. Who then?
